Upcoming Games: October 2016

Fall is here, leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping and game developers are racing to create the best after school game for players to enjoy. There are only three more months in 2016 and developers are racing to create the game of the year.

WWE 2K17 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One) – October 11th

The developers of the 2K game series are bringing the SmackDown and Raw fans the most action packed WWE game since WWE: SmackDown vs. Raw 2008. Along with matches inside the ring, players can now take part in backstage brawls, ringside struggles and even fights through an animated crowd. Fans have been asking for improvements in the core gameplay experience since the release of WWE 2K16.

In August 2016, the 2K team said, “We are taking your requests seriously – from controls to presentation to individual features.”

WWE 2K17 is continuing to push toward a new gameplay experience, shifting from an arcade-like game to a more realistic simulation-based gameplay. With thousands of new animations and all new stage props to play around with, there’s no doubt that WWE 2K17 will become one of the most advanced games of the WWE 2K series.

PlayStation VR – October 13th

Sony is releasing their newest PlayStation gaming console this month, pointing toward a huge shift in how video games are played. The PlayStation VR is a headset. Similar to the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, the PS VR is a virtual reality simulator console. The headset connects to a PlayStation 4 console with a connection cable. A PlayStation camera is required to get the system working. PS VR uses the camera to provide tracking and is able to locate the back of the head, as well as the front, so players are able to look directly behind them. The camera tracks the headset around 1,000 times per second, providing an almost “too-good-to-be-true” experience. In terms of control, PlayStation move controllers or the standard DualShock 4 pad will do the trick. A AMD graphics processor has been built to handle stereoscopic 3D processing. Several game developers are competing to make their own games compatible with the new PlayStation VR. An expected 160+ games from 230 different developers and software publishers are expected to become compatible with the PS VR by the end of the year. Needless to say, the PS VR is one of the most modern virtual reality headsets thus far, creating competition for software developers across the globe.
