Mrs. Brigit Harris: Business
Mrs. Brigit Harris teaches intro to business, business law, careers and info tech at Alliance High School, and also sponsors FBLA. She began teaching on and off in 1992. Mrs. Harris first taught in Hemingford, teaching business computers and network admin. She then moved to Valentine to work with special needs students and did computer work for the district. Mrs. Harris taught computer classes as adjuct faculty for Mid Plains Community College. In addition to working at the schools, Mrs. Harris also went on to work at Parker and Westco. She’s been working at Alliance Public Schools ever since.
Mrs. Harris graduated at Alliance High School in 1985. She attended Chadron State College and switched to the Lincoln School of Commerce for a semester. She then moved back to Chadron to finish her degree.
Mrs. Harris is married to Jeff Harris and has two grown sons, Derek and Matthew. Derek works for the railroad and Matthew works for Wells Fargo. Matthew also has a son named Broox and is expecting a baby girl that’s due in November. Mrs. Harris is really looking forward to meeting her new granddaughter. She also loves to spend time with her grandson, loves to do home improvement and building stuff with her husband, watching sappy Hallmark movies, reading, and spending time with family.
Mrs. Harris favorite part of teaching is getting to know kids, building relationships and seeing their success. When asked her favorite class, she had good things to say about all of them. She likes the challenging content of business law, sparking interest and showing how versatile the information is in Intro to Business, helping kids figure out who they are in careers, and showing all of the cool things that you can do with technology in info tech.
