Last week the Alliance FFA put on the Ag fair for K-6th grade students, the Ag fair involved 10 stations centered around livestock, safety, and equipment. Over 800 students attended, they all had an amazing time and learned a lot!
The first person I interviewed was Jackson Bailey. Jackson was in charge of the lawn safety station. At this station, students were shown a demonstration of what can happen if you are not safe around a lawn mower and weed wacker. My first question for Jackson was about how they demonstrated it, Jackson answered, “We used hotdogs and marshmallows as body parts to demonstrate what would happen if they were to get run over or accidentally hit themselves.”
The second person I interviewed was Rozlyn Wills. Rozlyn’s station was a crop safety station. At this station, students were shown what can happen if you are unsafe while working with crops, especially in corn silos. When asked about the importance of crop safety, Rozlyn stated, “It’s probably the most important thing, silos are extremely dangerous if you don’t know how to stay safe!” Rozlyn also told me that she was very happy with how her station went and that she believes kids picked up a lot of information from it!
The final person I interviewed was Seth Meyring. Seth’s assigned station was the equipment station. At this station, students were taught about Tractors and Combines, they were also allowed into each piece of equipment. Seth stated, “I am really grateful for Alliance Tractors and 21st century equipment, they provided all of the equipment, I just helped run it!”
Overall, The 2024 Alliance FFA Ag fair was a huge success and the kids had a lot of fun! We hope to continue this tradition in the following years and continue to improve upon the quality!
