All countries always want new technological advancements in their militaries however, each country’s main weapon is the primary battle rifle. The United State’s military learned to make a more multi-use rifle that could be used as a machine gun, marksman rifle, and light machine gun. The weapon is called the XM7, and it is meant to replace the M4 rifle because of its cheaper production value. This weapon was meant to be a bit higher caliber than the original M4 because it had 6.68 rounds instead of 5.56 rounds. This weapon also had a higher squad firing rate and more resistance to materials. 

The M4 will remain in service for the foreseeable future, and be used in close combat roles such as infantry, combat engineers, scouts, and special operation forces. The new XM7 will be used by the 101st airborne division and fully implemented in certain squadrons by 2024. The latest fun will also bring a new optic that is way more advanced than the based optics used by the M4. Also, the company that has produced these weapons and optics has been allowed around a six-million-dollar contract that will last ten years. In other words the U.S. military will always be finding new ways to help protect our service men and women everyday and it won’t stop.
