The Alliance High School Choir is very welcoming and a place to be yourself. The choir consists of Velocity, Harmonics (which are both show choirs), and a mixed choir. Velocity and Harmonics is a choir where you dance, sing to pop and jazz music. Velocity consists of only girls and Harmonics is mixed. Mixed choir is a boys and girls standing choir, they sing while standing instead of dancing.
I interviewed Dr. Kloch, the choir teacher, and asked her about her love for choir as well as why people should join. Kloch talked about how she always loved choir and decided to teach it so she could share her love of choir. She has been teaching choir for 21 years and stated, “Over those years most of our community thinks you can only get a scholarship from sports or academics, but the fine arts is a great way to get a scholarship”. Kloch then finishes the interview about how not many people join the choir, but since there are not many people in it, there is a higher chance to get a scholarship.
I also interviewed Brooklynn Smith about the choir, she said “that there is more to do in the high school choir than the middle school and it has been a great learning experience so far”. Brooklynn talked about how she started choir in high school, so she could be more comfortable with singing and could also make more friends.
In conclusion, these experiences from Brooklynn and Kloch, as well as many of my friends have been positive and their words express why everyone should at least give choir a chance.
Choir is a very fun and open experience if you are willing to try new things! I hope this gives everybody a chance to enjoy and learn that choir is fun!
