There are so many categories of books in our school library. Sadly, many people don’t realize the importance of reading; it could help reading levels go up, if the school encouraged the students to read some books from the library it could help.
It’s been proven that books teach us information, even if it’s fiction or nonfiction, they help us learn grammar and vocabulary when you don’t realize it. Books are just as important as sports or any other club because they give people an imagination, showing them how to be social to others, and more unknown words that could teach you and possibly help you for later in college or university.
When everyone wants to learn something new, they always look on the internet, but why don’t we start using what’s been here the longest? Books can always be reliable and on the internet, it’s not always correct.
I interviewed Ryggin Meyer about having a bookclub, she said, “There aren’t enough English activities, like there’s FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, and other activities.” She thinks this would help SAT scores and Map scores rise in our school, and that it could be beneficial if everyone read more books from the great variety of books in our school library.
I also interviewed Brooklynn Smith about having a bookclub and these are her words, “gives me peace in my mind and helps me with art block.” She talks about how many students from the art club and the people who love English would join the bookclub. She says “We have a full library of books that no one touches.” Brooklynn talks about if there was a bookclub she would immediately join and would love to inspire her friends to join as well, so she could share her love for all genres of books the school has.
I sent a survey about if the school should have a bookclub to each grade and the answers I got back were very positive. In what type of genres of books like to be read most was Horror, Crime fiction, Novels, Poetry, and Biographies. Majority of people said they read one book a month and would consider reading more books.
Mrs. Roberts said “We have had a Book to Movie Club in the past, where we would read the book, then get together after school and watch the movie and then talk about the differences. While it was a really cool idea, and for those that participated – it was a great club! There are so many different obstacles to overcome for a book club to be successful.” She said some issues were about buying all the books and spending all that money, but that it was fun and eventful.
