Beef on the Butte
Autumn on the Bricks all started in 2012 when Alliance Maine Street organization decided it would be fun to put on a fall festival. In 2013, it officially became Autumn on the Bricks and moved to October to incorporate Alliance’s 125th celebration. This year’s theme for this celebration was “Beef on the Butte.”
Autumn on the Bricks took about one year worth of planning, but who also had a lot of returning help from last year’s celebrations. They had many sponsors for the fall festival, like Keep Alliance Beautiful, the Chamber of Commerce and many more.
On Friday October 10th, there was a free BBQ and a family feud game in the old dollar general, the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department won the “money round.” The prize was two-hundred seventy five dollars, the FFA team came in second and won the prize of one hundred fifty dollars and the 4-H team came in third and won seventy five dollars.
On Saturday, there was live entertainment all day, a 5K run, bake sales and kids games. The Alliance FFA had a live petting zoo set up all day, which was a big hit with all the kids. There was also face painting and bouncy houses for the kids. In the old dollar general there was a chili cook off with Larry Bollinger winning the judges choice, Sandhills Shepard winning the people choice and Momma T’s winning the best beef prize. On Saturday afternoon, there was a pie eating contest, which anyone could participate in.
Megan Spargo organizer of the event , said, “Autumn on the Bricks should be a good opportunity for the businesses to gain exposure.” There was a lot of community members who came and enjoyed Autumn on the Bricks.
