Gold Bars Found In Man’s Stomach

A 63-year-old patient, who is an Indian citizen, visited a hospital in New Delhi on April 9th, suffering from severe stomach pain and nausea. The doctor did an X-ray over his stomach and lower intestines and saw something that could not be made out. There was something blocking his intestines and surgery was required to get it out.

When the team of Indian surgeons opened up the patient’s stomach, they found something remarkable. What they found were 12 gold bars hidden in his belly. Police and doctors said that he had smuggled them into India to evade import duty on Tuesday, April 22nd. C.S Ramachandran, who performed the surgery, said that each bar of the 12 bars weighed 33 grams. Before the doctor even did an X-ray, the 63-year-old patient told them that he had accidently swallowed the cap from a plastic bottle. “It was very unexpected”, Ramanchandran exclaimed.

What did the hospital do with the golden bars you may wonder? Well, they gave the precious extraction to local police. “The bars have been sent to customs, which is conducting a probe”, said Alok Kumar, who is a deputy commissioner of police. The name of the patient has still not been disclosed, and neither has the country of which he smuggled the gold from. After the surgery, the patient has been doing fine.
