The athlete The Spud chose to feature in its Athlete Profile section is freshman Maggie Otto. Maggie is the daughter of Rich and Aimee Otto and is involved in volleyball, basketball, and track. Maggie says she joined the track team so she can stay in shape and be ready to compete in other sports.
Maggie has had many highs in her track career. For instance, when she placed at many of her track meets in middle school. This year, she runs the 4 by 4, the 4 by 1, and also runs the 100 and the 200. Maggie said she has also competed in long jump, but only once, but she said the coaches have asked her to start practicing the high jump, so perhaps she will soon be adding that event to her roster.
Maggie said she has had many people push her to be her very best, but AHS Coachs Michael Spargo and Chris Seebohm, in particular, have pushed her this season. She says the athlete she admires most is J unior Rylee Trout who helps her throughout practices.
Maggie said her favorite thing about track season is going to track meets with all her friends.
Good luck with the rest of the season Maggie!
