Cesar Millan, more popularly known as the Dog Whisperer, can be seen each week on his television show by the same name, helping owners take back control from their dogs. Some of the people Cesar helps have aggressive dogs, fearful dogs, dominant dogs, or even the occasional dog that is scared. The owners don’t know how to fix these pets themselves so they turn to Cesar and his unique ability to work with dogs.
Cesar became a dog groomer and dog walker in 1997 after his family came to the United States from Mexico. Cesar soon became known in his neighborhood as “The Mexican guy with six Rottweilers.” This name came from the small pack of six Rottweilers Cesar had adopted. Cesar later became known as the Dog Whisperer after he helped Jada Pickett [Smith] with her unruly dog, Luigi. With the help of Jada Pickett [Smith], Cesar managed to get a television series on the National Geographic Channel and his fame has spread nationwide.
Cesar became better known as the show gained popularity, and as people began to associate him with breeds such as Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and other breeds the media labels as “fighting dogs”. His famous motto, and line that is constantly used in the show and during the beginning credits, is “I rehabilitate dogs; I train people.” Most of the clients who have been helped by Cesar will defiantly vouch for Cesar and his cause.
Cesar now has a new show called, “The Pack Leader.” This show aired for the first time on January 5,2013, on NatGeo Wild at six p.m. Eastern time. Cesar left behind the legacy of the “Dog Whisperer” after his Pit Bull, Daddy, died in October of 2010. Cesar had stated 2010 was a very hard year for him and he had to take a step back from the spotlight while he figured out what his next move would be.
Cesar Millan states over and over again that dogs live in the moment. The moment is the most important thing. Forget the past and don’t fret about the future. Good luck to Cesar Millan as he begins his new future with a new show and a new purpose.
