Ms. Andrea Jay may be a new teacher to AHS, but she’s been teaching for eighteen years. Before becoming part of Alliance High School’s staff she taught in Lincoln right out of college, and then in Mullen for 15 years.

Currently Ms. Jay is teaching American history, but in the past she taught speech, theater, world history, and American wars.

Ms. Jay is a 1993 graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School. Then she attended University of Nebraska Kearney for her undergrad, and Wayne State College for her masters in history. College was an enjoyable experience for Ms. Jay.

Ms. Jay comes from a family of teachers so, in a way, she’s carrying on a legacy by teaching. She says her favorite part of teaching is when you see a student finally understand something, “…You can see in their eyes, like they finally get it, that’s my favorite part.”

When she’s not in her classroom, she has a dog that she considers a “four-legged child”, and her main hobby is wood-working.
