Christmas spirit was alive in the halls of Alliance High School when teachers decorated their classroom doors for a friendly Christmas competition.

The Christmas door competition was between the teachers but not all had to participate. Many teachers took time out of their classes or planning periods to decorate and even had their students help with their door. The competition heated up during the final days as the teachers got more competitive with each other.

Judging happened on December 8 right after school and the winners were announced on December 9 during 6th period. The judges had three different categories they were judging for; most creative door, most Christmas spirit, and best Christmas theme. Mr. Wurdeman, the English 10 teacher, won the most creative award with his personalized “How the Grinch stole Christmas theme”.

“ It was fun and interesting to see the english department be so competitive. The credit goes to 3rd and 6th period, they did mostly everything,” said Wurdeman. The winner for most Christmas spirit was Ms. Green with her theme of Christmas wishes.

“ I wanted all of the students to be involved with decorating. I thought it would be a cool idea to add personal Christmas wishes,” said Ms. Green. The final category was best Christmas theme and Mrs. Schoenman won with the theme of “Hark the Herald angel sings.”

Mrs. Schoenman said this about the competition,“ I thought it was a good way to raise school spirit. The kids and the para’s enjoyed decorating and participating in the competition. The credit goes to Mrs Freed, Mrs. Nelson, and Ms. Elgin.”

The competition may be over for this year, but next year’s competition is bound to be bigger and better.
