Alliance High School sent yet another talented group of students to the 2016 Chadron State College Scholastic Fair. Sponsors Ms. Smith and Mrs. McMillian accompanied the students to an all day trip where the students took tests in their assigned categories.

Alliance, overall, scored 6.753 Division Points. Individually, 15 students placed. Elora Bleisch placed 1st in Human Development and Family Health, while also placing 5th in Business Law. In Personal Finance, Anthony Hare placed 1st. Sophia Sanchez placed 2nd in Simulated News Reporting. Also, Dylan Horton placed 2nd in General Biology, while Morgan Johnson placed 19th. Austin Pfeiffer placed 6th in Physics, while Trajan Garcia placed 12th. Richie Toedtli placed 6th in Nebraska History and 8th in Nutrition and Family Heath. In General Science, Lane Applegarth placed 9th. Rachel Baker placed 10th in World History. Zach Placek placed 12th in Algebra 1. In Health, Kayla Schilreff placed 13th. In English Usage, Grace Toldstedt placed 15th.

When the students were done with their tests or multiple tests, there were many options for the students to do afterwards. In the library, there was putt putt golf and a trivia competition. The planetarium held shows in the morning, had a scavenger hunt, and campus tours. The National Guard held competitions out on the front lawn, or you could watch the Eagle Cook Off. There was a carriage ride or the students could just stay in the student center and spend time in the pit.

Ms. Smith, sponsor, stated about the day, “It was really neat to see all the students dressed up and courteous. They acted well mannered and kind to everyone. I think the students did well and many even placed in the top 25%. The students will be receiving certificates, and metals for those who placed wither first, second, or third. Anthony Hare will be the only one who will receive some form of scholarship for being a senior and placing first. It was an overall great day!”
