At the Chadron Speech Invitational on Saturday, February 6, the Alliance Speech Team let their voices be heard. Alliance took home the Class A/B Sweepstakes Championship Honors. The team of 8 contestants competed in 11 events at the meet.

The speech team had 6 finalists in 6 different categories. Rachel Baker placed 2nd in Informative Speaking. Trajan Garcia placed 2nd in Humorous Prose. Grace Tolstedt placed 3rd in Entertainment Speaking, while Tristan Bleisch placed 4th in the same category. Hannah Middleton placed 4th in Poetry. The duet of Elora and Tristan Bleisch placed 7th. The O.I.D. or the Oral Interpretation of Drama consisting of Trajan Garcia, Grace Tolstedt, Darian Wilson, and Tristan Bleisch placed 2nd.

Junior, Trajan Garcia, a 3rd year speech team member stated, “The Chadron meet was great. Not only did we win the meet, but also the Chadron speech team is close with the Alliance team. We enjoy going and watching each other perform and in between the events we hang out. It’s nice to know that whether we win or lose, other teams support us.”

Other than just the Chadron Speech Invitational, the Alliance Speech Team has had quite a successful year. The speech team has traveled to 4 meets and have done extremely well in all.

The next speech meet that the Alliance Speech Team will participate in is the Ogallala Speech Invitation on February 20. We wish them the best of luck as they continue to compete and dominate at the speech meets.
