Homecoming week is a time when students should come together and get involved. School spirit runs deep in the veins of some students and shallow in others. This year student council is trying to get more students with different interests involved in homecoming. This year’s theme is based off of the Wizard of Oz and will be called “There’s No Place Like Homecoming.”

The voting for royalty will be on Monday, September 28 and final voting will be on October 1. Coronation this year will be on Monday, October 5 due to the volleyball games on Tuesday and Thursday as well as activities not being allowed to be held past 6 PM on Wednesdays as to not conflict with church activities. Students will wear green on Monday for “Oz the Great and Powerful.”

Tuesday’s activity is Mini Olympics, which is a bunch of games that teams can play to win free admission into the dance on Saturday. The theme is “Twister Tuesday,” also known as mismatch day. The volleyball team will be playing Gering at home. This will also be the last day for hallway decorations to be completed.

“Which Witch is Which,” will be Wednesday’s theme. Students will be twinning all throughout the school. There will be no other activities on this day.

On Thursday, the theme is “There’s a Storm Coming.” Students will wear black out and this will also be the theme for the volleyball game versus Sidney at home. We hope to see a lot of students attending! Thursday Alliance is trying something new for the activity, a lip sync. The Dawgpound will be one of the groups preforming to a mix of songs.

Friday will be “There’s No Place Like Home,” where students will wear blue and white to show our school spirit for the football game versus Gering. The parade will begin at 2:30. After the parade, there will be a pep rally at the corner of Niobrara and 4th street. The cheerleaders, band, Dawgpound and student council will help the students get pumped up for the big game. There will be a conga line heading back to the high school. The game will start at 7:00 on Friday night.

This year we are going back to tradition, with a semi-formal homecoming on Saturday night. The dance will start at 8 and will continue until 11 PM. No jeans will be allowed. Let’s have a great homecoming, Bulldogs!
