The Alliance High School track team is having a great season! With having meets postponed because of weather they still continue to practice and show why they are a part of the team. Everyone hopes they can continue to have a great season!

Shyla Salcido is a sophomore at Alliance High School, she is a member of the track team and throws shot put, and discus. She thinks the Alliance Bulldogs are doing really well this season with all the postponed track meets they have had, but they’ve pushed through it and are fighting until the last meet. Shyla said, “ Personally this season is going really well for me because I am sitting fifth in the districts for shot put.” The top three are guaranteed to go to state but the fourth and fifth get wild cards so she just needs one really good track meet to bump her up there and she will be off heading to state. Shyla thinks that she is on a good path to make state. She has had a fantastic season sitting fifth and if she keeps putting in the good effort it is all going to pay off for her. Shyla said, “ I think there are going to be a bunch of people going to state this year but I really hope Josie Sanders can make it because that will be just amazing because she is sitting sixth or seventh in the districts right now and she can continue to hold her place at state. Also, the girl’s 4×1 track team is doing a phenomenal job this year, sitting third in the district right now.” Considering the girl’s track team only has 9-12 girls on it they are doing really well and are having a lot of fun!

Josie Sanders is a sophomore and a member of the track team. She runs hurdles and 100 dashes. She thinks that the Alliance track team is doing a really good job at their meets, everyone places from sixth to seventh or medals at all the track meets. Josie said, “ I have had a decent season, not as good as I hoped, there is really tough competition this season so it makes me work harder. At every meet so far I have been able to place in the top six in most of my events.” Josie is hoping that she is on a good path to state, right now she is sitting sixth in the districts, and that puts her in a decent spot. Josie said, “You will never know who will make it to state but this year we have a bunch of really good contenders, but I do know there will be a good handful of us going.” This year has been a really good season for everyone. There was a bunch of team bonding and making new friendships that were going on and kids were doing new events that they had never done before and them being good at it made the season even better!

I hope the Alliance Bulldogs have a good rest of the season and I hope that Shyla and Josie head to state and do a phenomenal job! Show everyone there why they are there!
