The Closing of Good Samaritan has been called for the 31st of December. Devastating news was announced Tuesday, October 10th. News spread quickly throughout the community, since it has been a prominent business ever since it was built in 1965. Mr. Nate Schema stated that “Good Samaritan is very difficult and one of the last resorts to go to.” The Facility has been on the naughty list for a while and the State has made their decision that some needs have not been met with the residents living there. Most don’t know what is going to happen with the building, so for now it’s just going to sit.

Good Samaritan is trying to make the move as smooth as possible, for they are moving 50 to 60 miles from Alliance. They’ve tried to cut cost, but they just couldn’t bring it around. Based on Mr. Sharma’s experience with other facilities, probably up to 50 percent will be discharged within two weeks. So they’ll probably have around 15 residents within two weeks and then trickle down from there. Mr. Nate Shema and his staff members main focus is to still care for the residents they still have and will not being going anywhere until closing.
