“Peace is the only battle worth waging.” – Albert Camus

On Thursday, March 23, a mass-casualty terrorist attack occurred in Britain, resulting with the death of five people and at least fifty injured. It only lasted 82 seconds. The man responsible is known as Khalid Masood.  This was the first attack in Britain since 2005, and the event was one of the few attacks actually recorded and revealed to the public. There are some attacks that have had little recognition, for example: The Sehwan Suicide Bombing in Pakistan when a total of 83 people were killed, and the Karrada Bombings in Iraq where 292 people died in the attack. There are even more bombings and attacks that are known by the public. So, where’s the peace?

Although our world has tried focusing on such a subject, it has never been known for it’s peacefulness. Then again, it is difficult to see conflict of all kinds that still continues to take place. As a high school student, it’s hard to think that we could do something that could make a large impact on so many lives, but we shall never know until we try. You could start with a small task that would eventually lead up to a larger difference. A small task could be something such as accepting someone’s differences and stop comparing everyone to yourself since none of us think or look the same way. This is only a small step in a road that may take a long time to finally pave, but even the merest things can make the biggest impacts upon our world.

Like the quote listed above, peace could be considered a battle. It may even be a battle that we are losing but we can change that. Let this be a battle that we win.
