With September comes the end of summer, which means all the big summer blockbusters have all made their debut.  The talk of summer films is dying down and the promise of fall films begins.  While cold weather is a great excuse to just stay at home, curl up on the couch, and watch a movie in the comfort of your own home, there are still plenty of films worth taking a trip to the cinema to see on the big screen!

 

September 2nd- Morgan (R)

morganA bioengineered child, by the name of Morgan is “born” with abnormal abilities that allow her to develop extremely faster than the average human.  She is able to walk and talk after just one month of living and by the age of six, she is completely self-sufficient.  Morgan seems to be the perfect super human until, she savagely attacks one of the scientists meant to train her.  After the attack, a corporate troubleshooter is sent to determine whether or not to terminate the possibly unstable child of science.

September 9th- Sully (PG-13)

Sully-new-Poster-405x600Chesley Sullenberger made his claim to fame on January 15, 2009. On that day, his plane, US Airways Flight 1549, struck a flock of geese, resulting in an emergency landing.  He attempted to do so in New York’s Hudson River and ended up saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crew members aboard the flight.  Despite his heroism, the pilot finds himself under investigation, one that could possibly ruin his reputation and end his career.

September 16th- Blair Witch (R)

13696886_232939853771538_846564004_nYears ago, James’ sister went missing without a trace… until now.  He finds a videotape discovered in the Black Hills Forest in Maryland and becomes convinced that the girl shown in it could be his missing sister.  In hopes of finally finding her again, he and his college friends enter the forest, disregarding the legend of the Blair Witch.  The group changes their mind when night falls and unexplainable things begin to occur.

September 23rd- The Magnificent Seven (PG-13)

magnificent_seven_ver2Based off of the original movie, The Magnificent Seven, released in 1960, which was a western take on the Japanese film Seven Samurai, the latest remake is set to hit the big screen this coming month.  An old western town called Rose Krick has been taken over by industrialist, Bartholomew Bogue.  In a classical western sense, the townspeople seek the help of outlaws to help them overtake their town once more. However, the seven outlaws hired for the task find themselves in for more than they bargained for, once they meet the residents of Rose Krick.

September 30th- Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (PG-13)

Miss_Peregrine's_Home_for_Peculiar_Children2016Ransom Riggs’ novel, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, was released in 2011 and soon became a #1 New York Times Bestselling Novel.  Fans have awaited the film adaptation of this novel for several years now.  The story goes that a boy named Jacob comes across a series of clues that lead him to a mystery that reaches far into different worlds and times.  He soon finds the magical place known as “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”. He makes friends with the whimsical residents that have special powers.  After a short period of time, Jacob  discovers that his own “peculiarity” can possibly help save his newfound friends from the dangerous mystery he stumbled upon.

Don’t miss out on film adaptation of M.L. Stedman’s romantic novel, The Light Between Oceans. The tale of a couple who reside in a lighthouse, and take in and raise a baby that they discovered on a boat with no other living being to be found.  This film, along with several other exciting titles, are set to hit the theatres this month.
