‘The Artist’ is a silent film; that alone is cause for most to groan. Couple it with the fact that it—another relative unknown—won the Academy Award for Best Picture and you have a whole mess of ticked off movie-goers. But believe the hype. ‘The Artist’ is a magical ode to old film. It follows a silent film actor who refuses to switch over to talkies and so is left behind. The amount of emotion the filmmakers fused into the story is incredible considering the lack of talking. Suck it up and go see ‘The Artist’. It really is film at its finest.
