On Wednesday, April 22, 2015, the Alliance Band traveled to Chadron State College for their yearly District Music Contest. The competition involved performances by their concert band, jazz band, and a number of soloists.

Both the jazz band and concert band received superior ratings and plaques for their performances. Of the multiple soloists, four of them received perfect ratings. Aydin Mack was awarded the Outstanding Performer award and a perfect score for his trumpet solo. Bethany Baker received the Honorable Mention award for her trombone solo. Alexis Garret was awarded a perfect score for her marimba solo, and Emily Green was also given a perfect score for her trumpet solo.

Eight other Alliance soloists also received superior ratings. David Beckett and Jake McCaffrey were awarded superior ratings for their euphonium solos. Betsy Goodell, and Sariah Grant were also given a superior for their French horn solos. Will Grant in trumpet, Christa Horn in clarinet, and Bethany Baker and Grace Tolstedt in piano all received superior ratings on their respective solos.

Three Alliance musicians received excellent ratings on their solos. Peyton Stoike in flute and Aaliyah Dunn and Adrianna Boyles in clarinet all received excellent ratings on their solos.

Alliance High’s Band will finish their year with their spring concert later on in the school year.
