Friday, March 27, Alliance High School shipped two buses full of students to Chadron State College to take tests for the annual scholastic day contest. Alliance had a total of twenty students place in the top twenty-five percent of the tests and ended up in the first position of division II with 7.1 points.

Walker Johnson ranked 11th in Advanced Mathematics. Anthony Hare ranked 2nd in American History. Lauren Block ranked 6th in Human Development and Family Life. Branson Stinnette ranked 3rd in Photojournalism. Cody Henderson ranked 5th in Veterinary Sciences. Chris Wright ranked 2nd in Art Drawing. Wright commented, “I would’ve won it if I would’ve had time to finish.” Here at AHS we have no doubt about that! Maggie Otto ranked 3rd in Business Communications and Vocabulary with Veronica Duran for a tie. Anthony Hare also ranked 2nd in Business Information Systems. Bethany Baker ranked 1st in Literature. Aydin Mack ranked 3rd in Music. Shayleen Behm ranked 9th in Nutrition and Family Health. Jorgen Johnson ranked 18th in Plane Geometry. Christa Horn ranked 1st in Teaching Presentation. Xiayue Liu ranked 7th in Trigonometry. Bailey O’Connor ranked 6th in Business Law. Anthony Hare ranked yet again in Personal Finance at 3rd this time. Garret Schmid ranked 14th in Physical Education Sports Knowledge. Lane Applegarth ranked 2nd in Algebra I. Bethany Baker ranked 2nd in American Government.

The prize for 1st place is full tuition for one year, but this only applies to seniors attending Chadron State College. This would only apply to senior Christa Horn who commented about winning, it’s “weight off my shoulders because that’s money I don’t have to pay.” Alliance did extremely well and on behalf of the SPUD we congratulate all of the students who placed and the students who travel to compete in scholastic day!
