AHS Track Team Competes at CSC

On Saturday March 21, Alliance High’s girls and boys track team traveled to Chadron to compete in the CSC indoor invitational. The team did exceptionally well for their first meet and many athletes see great things coming from the team this season. Though the meet is considered a “pre-meet,” it shows coaches as well as other athletes who their competition will be this season and what they have to work on.

The girls’ team had six placers. Mikenzie Brennan placed second in the 55-meter dash, with a time of 7.83. Lauren Block and Madison Reiber had a close finish in the 55-meter hurdles, with Block placing fifth with a time of 9.97 and Reiber sixth with a time of 9.99. Alliance’s 4×800 relay team placed fourth with a time of 11:47.16. Freshman Madison Morgan placed sixth in long jump with a jump of 14-7. Another freshman, Kaylee McDonald took second place in pole vault. Vaulting a height of 7-2.

The boys’ team had nine placers in events. Brody Brennan placed fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.88. DJ Weare placed fifth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:16. Brendan Brehmer placed sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.08. The Alliance 4×400 meter relay teams, both A and B placed. Alliance A placed first with a time of 3:39. Alliance B placed fourth with a time of 3:54. Tucker Hill placed in both the triple jump and the high jump. In triple jump, Hill placed fifth with a jump of 37-1.5. In high jump hill tied fifth and sixth with a jump of 5-6. Alliance also took the gold home in high jump, with Trevor Ridenour jumping a personal record of 6-0. Josh Ellis placed third in pole vault with a vault of 12-2.

The team looks very promising this year and we all look forward to the great accomplishments they will achieve this season!
