On October 25, the Alliance High School Marching Band competed at the State Marching Band Competition in Kearney. They performed a ‘Spies’ theme show including Goldfinger and Live and Let Die both arranged by Mike Story and Soul Bossa Nova arranged by Paul Murtha. The seventy-nine-piece band scored a division II rating for this show. At the competition, there were forty-five bands divided between two sites. This was the first year that the Nebraska State Bandmasters’ Association has offered a ‘western’ site for the competition.

When asked, the band’s head instructor, Mr. Heide, said he is, “…Very proud of what the band has been able to achieve this year.” The band will now begin preparing for the November 11 Veterans Day program. After that, they will begin preparing for their December 16 Christmas program.
